Lissette Schaeffler
Lissette Schaeffler is a Cuban born lens-based artist based in Miami, Florida. Her work has consistently delved into the themes of memory, place, and the passage of time. Currently, Lissette’s work is guided by the search for identity within the natural world and explores the effect that time and proximity have on our perspectives toward nature. She holds an MFA in photography from Savannah College of Art and Design. With over 20 years of experience, Lissette has showcased her work nationally and internationally in both solo and group exhibitions. Most recently she was invited to participate in a six-woman show at the Art Museum of the Americas (F Street Gallery) in Washington D.C. (2024) featuring a large selection of her “¡Porque el Conejo me Araño!” series. In 2023, she was part of a collaborative solo exhibition at the Deering Estate where she was (2020-2021) and currently is an Artist-in-Residence. Her notable exhibitions include DORCAM, Griffin Museum of Photography, PhotoAlicante, Adrianne Arsht Center, Photo LA, Midwest Center for Photography, Art and Cultural Center of Hollywood, Miami-Dade College Museum of Art and Design, and Boca Raton Museum of Art, just to name a few. Additionally, Lissette was an Artist in Residence at Oolite Arts from 2010-2015. She was recognized as a Cintas Foundation Fellowship Finalist in 2013 and was a Critical Mass finalist for PhotoLucida in both 2015 and 2022. She has been the recipient of an MIA Individual Artist Grant in 2023 and 2024.​
